So tired

Yesterday the girls and I met some friends from our MOPS group at the zoo. It was a beautiful day to get outside. We saw fish, manatees, penguins, and kangaroos. The girls didn't seem to take much of an interest in any of the animals, but they did appear to enjoy being outside. I think they were more interested in watching the other children that we met there.

We only stayed for a couple of hours, but it was enough to wear the girls out for the rest of the day. Here is a picture I snapped after we went for our evening neighborhood walk...

They both fell asleep in the stroller, and Meg continued to sleep even after we came inside the house.

I just noticed that Erin has contributed the previous two posts, and I haven't posted in a while. Meg and Katie have been keeping me busy. I think they are going through their '4 month growth spurt', and their napping patterns are changing. This week I have been trying to figure out/establish a schedule that works for them. I don't understand why they don't want to nap... I would love to take one! :)

Our little plumber

I just couldn't pass up sharing this picture of Meg. I think she wants to be a plumber for halloween...

Arbor day

Last weekend I got to do some digging. Grandpa S started a tradition when my sister and I were born. He planted a tree for each of us in the yard at their house, out there in the Arizona desert is a palm tree that was planted for me. When the girls were born he wanted to carry on the tradition so he did some research this summer and found a variety that he thought would work well here in Ohio. He liked the Red Maple for their fall color and the shade that they will provide.

He wanted to help plant them but it didn't work out...

It took a few hours and I missed most of the Buckeye game that day but I finally got both the trees planted. They look great and should grow almost as fast as the girls.

First Day of Fall!

I love fall! It didn't feel like fall today... the high was in the upper 80's, but the girls and I went for a walk anyway.

Four Months Old!

Katie and Meg had their 4 month check-up at the pediatrician yesterday. The girls weigh EXACTLY the same... 13 pounds, 13 ounces each! Katie seemed quite pleased that she finally caught up to Meg. Their weight is in the 55th percentile. They measured 25 inches long, which is in the 75th percentile. The doctor said the girls are very healthy and look great.

Each month we take a picture of the girls on a rocking 'lion' that is in their room. It is a fun way for us to measure how much they have grown.

I'll have to end this entry here. The girls got their 4 month immunizations yesterday, and it is a fussy day at our house. More soon!

Happy Girls!

Meg and Katie are such happy girls! They smile to show they're happy, they laugh and giggle, and they also open their mouths wide open, as seen in the picture above.

Meg is usually content to sit for a bit in our laps, but Katie LOVES to stand and show off how strong she is. Katie will stiffen her legs and arch her back until the person holding her helps her stand up. Then, she smiles and looks around to see if anyone is admiring her.

New Toys!

It is official... our home has been taken over by baby gear! :) This week I decided the girls were probably ready for an 'exersaucer' of some sort. Their legs are getting stronger, and they like to 'stand' while someone holds them. Grandma H. wanted to buy the girls some new toys while she is here too. Meg and Katie now have an exersaucer and a jumperoo. Meg is pictured above in the jumperoo, and Katie is in the exersaucer. So far they like both of their new toys... but only for about 5 minutes at a time.

Pictures

Katie loves to smile and 'ham it up' for the camera!

Meg is a happy girl playing on the playmat next to Katie.
