Giggles

Katie and Meg are 15 weeks old today. They are such happy babies! They are always smiling, and have just recently started to fill our days with giggles. At first, we couldn't predict what would make them laugh. Now we know that Meg will usually laugh when her clothes are being changed and Katie will laugh if you shake her stuffed animal that rattles. Both girls will often giggle when we play peek-a-boo and when we rock them fast in the big yellow rocking chair. It is so much fun! I can't wait until they make each other laugh.

Separation Anxiety

Sunday morning we came into the nursery and found Meg kicking Katie in the stomach! Katie didn't seem to mind too much... at least we didn't hear any cries of protest. Both girls have been much more mobile in the past few days. They are able to scooch around on their backs - sometimes turning 180 degrees or more!

The girls have slept in the same crib ever since they have been sleeping in their room. But, on Sunday we decided it was time to separate Katie and Meg into their own cribs. We were both a little sad to do this. The girls love to snuggle close while the are sleeping and they love to stretch and smile together when they wake up.

Meg is in the crib that she shared with Katie. She fusses when we put her to bed, but she has always done this. I don't think it is necessarily related to Katie's absence.

Katie is not happy about being moved to the 'new' crib (although she is smiling in the picture to the right). She usually went down for naps easily, but now she fusses and seems confused. Both girls are waking up frequently during daytime naps, so I'm making a lot more trips upstairs than I used to. Meg and Katie are also waking for their nighttime feeding earlier than last week, moving it from 4:00 am to 2:30am or 3:00am. We hope the girls adjust to their new sleeping arrangements soon!

Bedtime Story

Meg and Katie love to be read to. They listen intently and study the pictures. Every night Erin or I read Goodnight Moon to them.... unless they fall asleep before we get upstairs.

Double Stroller

This picture was taken Thursday night. We were trying to determine 1. if the girls were big enough to be in this stroller and 2. if they would be more comfortable with the 'snuzzler' (Meg is trying it out on the right).

On Friday I took the girls shopping at the outlet mall, about an hour south of us. We met our friend Jennifer and her daughter Emma. We took the new stoller, and it worked well. I think the girls liked being able to 'see' more... and they got lots of attention! People that see the girls often say, "Oh my! You have your hands full!" We crossed paths with two older gentlemen while we were shopping, and one of the men said, "There's double trouble!" I smiled and replied, "No, double blessings." I could tell by the look on his face that he liked my response, and he gave the girls a big smile. It was a fun day of bargain shopping.

First Entry

We hope this blog will help our family and friends feel 'closer' to Meg and Katie's daily/weekly events. We plan to post pictures and record milestones, along with everyday 'chatter'.

I'm not the computer expert in the family (I need my sister's help!), and I am not the best writer, so we'll see how it goes... maybe I should have a disclaimer at the top???
