Happy Girls!

Meg and Katie are such happy girls! They smile to show they're happy, they laugh and giggle, and they also open their mouths wide open, as seen in the picture above.

Meg is usually content to sit for a bit in our laps, but Katie LOVES to stand and show off how strong she is. Katie will stiffen her legs and arch her back until the person holding her helps her stand up. Then, she smiles and looks around to see if anyone is admiring her.

New Toys!

It is official... our home has been taken over by baby gear! :) This week I decided the girls were probably ready for an 'exersaucer' of some sort. Their legs are getting stronger, and they like to 'stand' while someone holds them. Grandma H. wanted to buy the girls some new toys while she is here too. Meg and Katie now have an exersaucer and a jumperoo. Meg is pictured above in the jumperoo, and Katie is in the exersaucer. So far they like both of their new toys... but only for about 5 minutes at a time.

Pictures

Katie loves to smile and 'ham it up' for the camera!

Meg is a happy girl playing on the playmat next to Katie.

Handy Hands

Katie is having fun chewing on some keys...look at that big belly!

Katie and Meg are both able to hold small toys now! They will grab an object and put it in their mouth to chew on it. The girls watch each other, and sometimes it seems like one of the girls wants the toy her sister has. How interesting it will be when they can reach out and grab things from each other!

This week the girls have been having so much fun with Grandma H., who is here visiting from Arizona. They love all of the extra attention and they haven't had to have any feedings in their bouncy seats! Hooray!

Labor Day Weekend Hike

On Sunday afternoon we took the girls for a long walk at Highbanks Metro Park. It was a beautiful afternoon/evening to be outside. We walked along the river and through the trees. The girls really seemed to enjoy it, and eventually drifted off to sleep. We only had to ward off a few bugs, and Katie and Meg were protected by their stroller net. We look forward to more walks this fall!

Daily Activities

Many people ask me, "What is your day like?" I decided to post some pictures from today... a typical day when we stay home.

We start our day around 8:00am with a breakfast bottle. (They are still taking an early morning feeding around 4 or 5 am. Hopefully that will end soon.) I usually feed the girls in their bouncy seats in the nursery. They always wake up happy, with big smiles on their faces. Then, we change out of pajamas, and head downstairs for some play time before the girls take their morning nap.

Throughout the day we read lots of books together, I sing songs to the girls, they play on their playmat, we go for walks, and they enjoy 'tummy time'. The picture to the left is of Meg (L) and Katie (R) enjoying some tummy time in their Boppy cushions.

After the girls have their bedtime bottle, we put their pajamas on and head upstairs for a book and some snuggle time. Good night!

Holding Hands

Meg and Katie 'found' their own hands almost a month ago, and now they have found each other's. For the past few days, every time I put them down next to each other, they will hold hands! It is very sweet. Occassionally one of the girls will take her sister's hand and chew on it too.
