Chicken Update

The chickens are doing well. Fuzzworth is still our only layer... Henny Penny and Fluff are certainly taking their time, but I've been assured by chicken "experts" that they will be good layers. Fuzzworth was laying 5-6 eggs a week, but she seems to be slowing down now that the weather is cooler and daylight hours are decreasing. The eggs are so delicious and make baked goods taste superb!

Katie and Meg love collecting eggs, letting the chickens out in the morning (shown below), and letting the chickens out of their run to free-range.

The Three Amigos

Toby and Aunt Robin came to visit us earlier this month. Meg and Katie had so much fun with Toby... I think they each rode the zipline 50 times!!

Yummy Breakfast Recipe

We enjoyed these Pop Up Muffins this morning for breakfast. They are kind of like a crepe/pancake and are delicious with sliced strawberries, blueberries, and a drizzle of maple syrup. It's a quick, easy recipe for a busy morning.

Egg-citement - Day 2

Katie and Meg have a snack and wait... Fuzzworth is in the nest box.
Another perfect egg!

First Egg!

Fuzzworth laid her first egg today! We were so excited... we heard her egg song and rushed outside to find this perfect little egg in the nest box, still warm.

(store bought egg on the left for size comparison)

She did a great job... the egg came out perfectly clean, and although it is small, I think it is rather large for her first egg (they will get larger over the next few weeks).

Durango

We spent one fun-filled day at Purgatory. The girls made it to the top of the climbing wall and were so proud of themselves. They also jumped on the bungee trampoline, enjoying it just as much as last year.
